Russell Lee Bailey, 55, of Crestline, passed away on Wednesday June 19, 2024. Russell was born to the proud parents Larry and Edna (Hudnell) Bailey on November 21, 1968, in Bucyrus.
Russell was a Galion High School Graduate, Class of 1987. After high school, he earned his Associate’s Degree and excelled academically, making the Dean’s List in Criminal Justice at North Central State College, graduating in 1996. He was a dedicated Juvenile Corrections Officer employed in Law Enforcement, a role he held with pride and integrity. He was also a talented martial artist, achieving a 3rd degree Black Belt in Song Moo Kwon Tae Kwon Do. Russell’s martial art skills allowed him to compete in numerous state and nationwide competitions. He received many different awards, and he was very proud of these accomplishments.
Russell had a passion for cars, especially admiring his 1970 Cutlasses with his father, Larry. Together, they visited car shows across Ohio, creating cherished memories that Russell held dear. He shared a special bond with his mother, Edna, and treasured family gatherings, particularly during the holidays. Russell was also known for his roasts, that no one can match, and making the best sandwiches.
A hockey enthusiast, Russell cheered for the Pittsburgh Penguins and enjoyed playing hockey virtually. His hobbies included collecting Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, items featuring wolves, and knives. Russell was a skilled bass guitarist, had a great sense of humor, and was known for his dad jokes.
Along with his parents, Russell is survived by his children; Cameron Bailey, Devin (Kyle) Phillipi, Lauren (Matthew) Carr, Ashtin (Tyler) McKinney, and Garrett Bailey, as well as his grandchildren Brilynn, Jensen, Felicity, Madilyn, Eleanor, Isaiah, Loretta, William, and Salomen, sister Tracy (Douglas) Smith, and nephew Joshua.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Steve Young Memorial Lodge 24, 5327 Harding Highway East, (State Route 309) Caledonia, OH 43314.
