Ross Hiatt never took anything too serious and always had a joke to help ease others. He was patriotic and supported the military in any way he could. Ross Hiatt, 66, of Galion passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Avita Galion Hospital after a brief illness.

Born August 24, 1955 in Tipton, Indiana, he was the son of the late Don R and Marietta (Pollo) Hiatt   He married Linda (Ray) Hiatt on October 14, 1996 and they enjoyed 25 years together. 

He was a 1973 graduate of Galion High School. Ross was a well-known local mechanic at Kocher Repair and Central Garage in Galion and recently retired from the Ariel Corporation in Mount Vernon. He enjoyed fishing and camping. Ross had a great sense of humor and always fun to be around. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Shawn (Tina) Hall of North Carolina; daughter Sherri (Dave Brown) Sheriff of Galion; grandchildren Andrew, Anjelica, Tyler, Cooper and Allison; brother Dan (Twila) Hiatt of Galion; sisters-in-law Angie (Chuck) Caldwell of Galion, Patty (Jerry) Marshall of Galion and Sue (Ric) Miller of Galion; brothers-in-law Buz (Mary) Ray of Galion and Tom (Trudy) Ray of Galion; nephews Don (Julie) Hiatt of Galion and Jon (Liz) Hiatt of Chicago; long-time friend, Jeff Bisel and his Rottweiler and buddy, Reggie.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, with Rev. Paul Walter officiating. Burial will follow at Iberia Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of the funeral home.
