Roselyn Mahoney, 90, of Galion, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, after living a wonderful life.

Roselyn was born in Cleveland, on July 29, 1927 to the late Urban L. and Gladys T.  (Martz) Fox, Sr.  She married Thomas W. Mahoney on July 8, 1950 and he preceded her in death on May 4, 2010.

Roselyn has lived in Galion since 1958, having moved from Connersville, Indiana. Roselyn graduated from Ohio Dominican (formerly St. Mary’s of the Springs) in 1949.   She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galion where many will remember her as a second-grade teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School.  As an active member in the church, she was also a Sacristan.  Her faith was most important to her and she loved her church. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.  Roselyn loved her family and especially all her grandchildren.  She was proud of all of them and all their accomplishments.

She is survived by her children, Anne Mahoney of Galion, James and Cathy Mahoney of Galion, Major (Ret.) William and Nancy (Holmes) Mahoney of Fairfax, Virginia, John and Charlotte Clark-Mahoney of Seattle, Washington, Loretta Mahoney and Mr. Lynn Fox of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Becky Mahoney of Ontario; ten grandchildren, Jerri Dix-Mahoney of Galion, Dr. Andrew and Christen Mahoney of Powell, Dr. Adam and Abbey Mahoney of Columbus, Dr. Thomas and Amy Mahoney of Springfield, Virginia, Christopher Mahoney of Oakton, Virginia, Daniel Mahoney of Fairfax, Virginia, Merlin Clark-Mahoney of Seattle Washington, Kelty Clark-Mahoney of Seattle, Washington, Christi and Scott Eckert of Galion, and William Mahoney of Columbus; ten great-grandchildren, Alexandria Eckert, Sydney Eckert, Cameron Eckert, Jack Finney Mahoney, Katherine Mahoney, Shaun Arthur II, Bella Arthur, Avery Mahoney, Elliott Mahoney, and another great-grandchild on the way,

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Rose Mahoney, her son, Mark Mahoney, her grandson, Harley Gallentine, her five brothers, Urban Lucas Fox Jr., Victor James Fox, Thomas Raymond Fox, John Henry Fox, and William Joseph Fox.

Friends may call Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home,303 Portland Way North, Galion.  A Vigil prayer service will be held at 7:00PM with Deacon Greg Kirk officiating.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galion, with Fr. Paul A. Fahrbach, Celebrant.  Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Galion.
