Ronnie W. Adkins, 71, of Galion passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the Ohio State Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born July 21, 1947 in Hookersville, West Virginia and was the son of the late Emmitt S. and Goldie L. (Armes) Adkins. Ronnie is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 51 years, Bonita (Jenkins) Adkins whom he married on February 17, 1968.
Ronnie was a former coal miner in West Virginia and moved to Ohio and worked at General Motors in Ontario for 24 years, retiring in 2009. He was the neighborhood fix-it man. Ronnie was always doing something for anybody in the neighborhood. Ronnie enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing and loved garage sales and flea markets. Above all else, he cherished his family and will be greatly missed by grandchildren who called him “PaPaw.”
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Ronnie (Esther) Adkins, Jr. of Chardon, Ohio; daughter, Jennifer (Mike) Monk of Galion; four grandchildren, Zach Monk, Michael Monk, Carisha (Jon) Jackson and Kayla Monk; nine great-grandchildren, Luke, Kevin, Ka-maria, Addison, Kaielle, Olivia, Michael, Jace, Kaiven and one expected; sister Emogen (Bill) Keesee of Gainesville, Georgia, sister Juanita (Joe) Campbell of Hansford, West Virginia, brother Larry (Jeanette) Adkins of Panama City, Florida, brother Emmitt (Debra) Adkins of Hurricane, West Virginia and sister Linda (Clyde) Green of Witcher Creek, West Virginia; special sister-in-law Bev (Joe) Moss of Galion, brother-in-law Frank (Vicky) Jenkins of Galion and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Jeff Staton officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
