Ronald “Ron” E.  Scott, 79, of rural Bucyrus passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 24, 1944 in Bucyrus, he was the son of Dallas Laverne and Louise (Grover) Scott.  He married Kaye (Poland) Scott on April 23, 1965 and they enjoyed 58 years together.

He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Ron worked for Swan Rubber for six years and then Timken for 30 years. He was a life member of DAV, a member of Masons Blue Lodge 343 in Nevada and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus. Ron was a jack of all trades and an excellent wood and metal worker.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Ronald (Ronda) Scott, Jr. of Sulphur Springs and Steve (Stacey) Scott of North Robinson; grandchildren, Dalton Scott, Micaela (Christian) Slaubaugh and Mariah (Brennen) Marsillett, and sister, Judy (Edward) Wheeler of Nevada.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Shirley and Annie and nephew, Larry Moll.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday October 25 with Chaplain Doug Olsen officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.

Military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Masonic Home, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Boys Town or St. Joseph Indian School in care of the funeral home.
