Robert “Bobby” Lee Ryland, 78, of Bucyrus left to be with the Lord on Monday, July 10, 2023.

Bobby was born December 27, 1944, in Portsmouth, Ohio to James D. Ryland and Bertha (Crisp) Ryland. He was an expert welder by profession and excelled at everything he did. Bobby was full of knowledge and could build or fix anything, always helping friends and family. He was a gifted trap shooter, collecting multiple trophies, while enjoying the sport with his close friends. Other skilled hobbies included deer and turkey hunting, woodworking, and car restoration.

Bobby met the love of his life, Sandy (Thoman) Ryland in high school, while working at the TomBoy Drive-in. They were happily married for 60 years, raising four children together. Bobby and Sandy were active members of their church. Most of all Bobby was a proud family man, often doting on his children and grandchildren to whomever would listen. And lastly, he was the best, and most fun, babysitter a grandchild could ask for.

In addition to his wife, Bobby is survived by his children, Jeff (Lisa) Ryland, Nancy (Michael) McGovern, Jennifer (Steve) Huey, and Rachel (Tariq) Lescouflair; grandchildren, Jenae Whitehead, Kaeli Tracht, Mira, Bella, Lia, and Emma Huey; a brother-in-law, Tom Blackwell, sister, Sandy Surber, sister-in-law, Lynne Ryland, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Aside from his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his siblings, Geneva Austin, Sidney Ryland, Donna K. Blackwell, Theodore Ryland, and Polly Lusk.

In lieu of funeral services a private celebration of life will be held for close family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association on Bobby’s behalf at https://ahatribute.funraise.org/fundraiser/robertryland.
