Robert D. (Bob) VanHorne, 71, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away peacefully with his daughter-in-law by his side at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio on September 28, 2023.
Robert is survived by one son, Charles “Dean” (Nicole) VanHorne of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; one daughter, Cindy (Scott) Rhodes of New Washington, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, Courtney Duncan of VanWert, Ohio, Brianna (Tember) Marchant of Cleveland, TN, Gabriella (Tyler) Farley of Cleveland, TN, Tyler Striker of Charleston, WV, Candyel VanHorne of Charleston, WV, and Shelby Rhodes of Toledo, Ohio; 8 great grandchildren, Dakota, Cheyenne, Rhett, Caden, Christian, Abigail, Briar, and Jaxon.
Robert liked to tinker with many things and was always up to fixing cars and making sure they were safe for his children and grandchildren to drive before leaving the driveway. He also liked to save many items from everything, he never knew when he would need it.
Robert loved his grandchildren, and great grandchildren to no end and always wanted updated pictures of them and always spoiled them with brownies or candy. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, Ohio State fan and made sure he was always watching their games on TV. If he wasn’t watching a game, he would be watching the SIFI channel. Robert also loved old country music.
Cancer took a toll on Robert back in 2021 but he was a fighter through it all but declined in health due to other sicknesses he couldn’t fight off as well. Robert will be missed by many but is now at peace and no longer in pain.
Per Roberts request, he will be cremated, and no services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life for Robert will be held at a later date.
