Robert “Bob” Karnes passed away January 3, 2024, peacefully at home with his loving family by his side. He was born February 13, 1939, in Columbus to Ethel (Hirschman) Karnes and Walter Karnes. He graduated from Galion High School in 1957 where he met and married his sweetheart Judy (Cass) Karnes in 1961.
Bob owned numerous businesses in Galion, including Bob’s Cleaners and Tiger Town Sports. He spent many years involved in sports from softball, basketball, and racket ball. He also coached youth flag football. He and his wife, Judy, were avid antique collectors and together owned The Iron Fence Antiques. He was also a well-known artist and wood carver and sold his carvings nationwide. Bob was known to be an animal lover and would trap and rescue strays. He will be missed by his beloved Rose and Mr. Tibbs as well as his outdoor fur babies Snickers, Darlin, and Braveheart.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Judy, who has been by his side for 63 years; his brother Walter Karnes, son, Drew (Michelle) Karnes, daughter, Jana (Mike) Henson and six special grandchildren, Kyle (Sarah), Chad (Nicole), Bobby (Becca), Clay, Tom, and Caitlyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: John and Chuck, and a sister, Martha Schwartz, and a son Kurt.

Friends may call on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 9:00AM to 11:00AM at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home; 303 Portland Way N., Galion. Graveside services will immediately follow at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Pennington officiating.
