Richard Von Althouse, “Dick,” age 81 of Upper Sandusky, died on Feb. 13, 2022 at Fairhaven Health Care Community. He was born June 28, 1940 in Tiffin to the late Russell W. and L. Elizabeth (Needs) Althouse.

He married Patricia Ann Hostetter on Jan. 20, 1962 and she survives near Upper Sandusky. Dick is also survived by 3 daughters Victoria Best, Powell, Anita (Herbert) Berger, Nashville, TN, Amy (Stephen) Singer, Powell, 6 grandchildren R. Tyler, Kathryn and Ryan Best, Mitchell Berger, Collin and Andrew Singer, a brother James Althouse, Marion. He is preceded in death by a son-in-law Keith Best.

He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.  Dick graduated from Sycamore High School with the class of 1958.  In his early years, Dick worked as a mechanic for Ed Steinbaugh’s garage and spent weekends drag racing. His racing team won the 1965 National Championship Drag Races in Indianapolis. He was a fifth generation farmer on his family Ohio Century Farm and retired in 2008.  He served as an Eden Township Trustee for over 24 years.  Dick was a life member of BPOE 83.  He enjoyed fishing and traveling especially to Las Vegas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30a.m. on Fri. Feb. 18, 2022 at Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Brad McKibben officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thurs. Feb. 17, 2022 from 4:00-7:00p.m. at the funeral home where an Elks Memorial Service will be held at 7:00p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ or Alzheimer’s Asso. in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 E.
