Richard J. “Dick” Stowe, 85, of Galion passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024 at home.

Born July 7, 1938 in Galion, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Grace (Ritterspach) Stowe.  He married Kay L. (Kunkel) Stowe on June 12, 1970 and they enjoyed 53 years together.

He was a graduate of Galion High School in 1956 and served four years in the United States Coast Guard. Dick attended St. Paul United Methodist Church in Galion. He owned and operated Stowe Motors for many years where he was well known for his meticulous detailing of cars. After retiring from the automobile industry he worked for the Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes in Galion.

Dick was an antique car enthusiast belonging to the Antique Automobile Club of America, Canton Chapter, Buick Club of America and Vintage Motor Car Club of America. He especially enjoyed touring with his family and friends in his antique cars. Dick was a former member of the Galion Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite and Shrine Club. He loved following his grandchildren’s activities.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Gregg Stowe of Green Valley, Arizona, Colleen (Todd) Adams of Hilliard, Florida, Sherri (Norm) Clevenger of Galion and Amy (Gary) Sprecher of Avon; Grandchildren, Eric (Leon Teeter)  Clevenger, Rachel (Chaz) Maul, Chris Gentry, Brad Sprecher, Sarah Sprecher and Cole Adams; great grandchildren, Cai Gentry and Kennedy Maul and brother Robert (Donna) Stowe of Granville.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2024 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday with Pastor Don Ebert and Pastor Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Galion.

Military honors will be conducted by the United States Coast Guard and the Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital or St. Paul United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
