Retired ELCA Pastor Richard Carl Beckman, 83, became a part of the Church Triumphant Saturday, November 25, 2017. Richard was the oldest son to the late Carl Wallace and EllaLaura “Bohlen” Beckman March 19, 1934 born at home in the country near Prairie Grove Iowa.
Richard is survived by his wife of 45 years, RoseAlice “Dapper” Beckman. Also a daughter, CarlaAnne Beckman; a son John Richard and daughter-in-law (Dr. Heidi “Yount”) Beckman and a grandson Paul Richard Beckman. Siblings Robert & Marlene Beckman, Jim & Donna Beckman, James & Verletta McGlaughlin Donald & Barbara (Deceased) Beckman, Rodney & Naomi Beckman, Joyce Beckman, and Marjean & Tom Gerdes; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Richard is a graduate of Wartburg College of Waverly Iowa and Wartburg Theological Seminary of Dubuque Iowa class of 1960. Richard served congregations in Ohio and Indiana he started with Trinity Lutheran of Galion, Ohio and retired at St. Peter Lutheran of Ridgeville Corners, Ohio. He is a member of Nazareth Lutheran-Chatfield.
Memorials may be made to Nazareth Lutheran or to the donor’s choice. There will be a celebration of life service at Nazareth Lutheran of Chatfield Saturday December 9th, at 11 AM.
