Ray G. Hurst, age 80, of Nevada, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 1:52 pm in the Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital.

Ray was born on April 5, 1941, in Greenup, Kentucky, to Raymond and Lacy (McFarland) Hurst, both of whom are deceased.  He married Carlon Stone on January 22, 1971, and she passed away on January 26, 2001.

He is survived by 12 children: Tony (Kim) Stapleton of Blanchester, Patricia Stone of Bucyrus, Lynda (Doug) Cole of Bucyrus, Mike Hurst of Nevada, Ginny (Tom) Cole of Nevada, Tim (Annette) Hurst of Bucyrus, Becky Smith of Marion, Missy (Shawn Green) King of Bucyrus, Rodney Hurst of Nevada, Tina (Justin) Hurst of Delaware, Randy Hurst of Nevada, and Lacey (John) Massey of Nevada. Along with 31 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and 2 sisters, Gloral Madden and Ven Gay Hurst.

Ray retired in 2005 from National Lime and Stone in Bucyrus, Ohio, after 35 years.

He was a member of the Pentecostal Tabernacle Church in Oceola.

For hobbies, Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, and sitting on his porch.

Visitations for Ray G. Hurst will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and Tuesday, November 9, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 10, at the Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg, Kentucky, with Rev. Carl Angel officiating.  Burial will follow services at Granny Thomas Cemetery.
