Phillip J. Niedermier, age 89, lifelong resident of Tiro, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023 at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on March 1, 1934 to the late Clarence and Corinne (Delarber) Niedermier at the home he has always lived in.
Phillip became a farmer in his teen years and it is a passion he has deeply held onto throughout his life. He also enjoyed hunting, attending tractor pulls, and tending to his sheep with his dog, Shep, by his side. Most importantly, Phillip enjoyed the time he spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren.
Phillip was a faithful member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in North Auburn and St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington.
On January 19, 1957, Phillip married Sally L. (Baird) and she survives along with their 5 children, Gail (Marilyn) Niedermier, Julie (Doug) Steinmetz, Mark (Amy) Niedermier, Janet Holmes, and Shelley (Aaron) Meyer; 15 grandchildren, Ryan Niedermier, Aaron Niedermier, Kristy (Jeff) Wilcox, Katie (Andy) Chieda, Jenna Niedermier, Chelsea Niedermier, Andrew Holmes, Ashley (Anthony) Belvedere, Alyssa Holmes, Lauren Meyer, Hailey Meyer and Braden Meyer; and 8 great grandchildren, Andrew, Alli and Luke Chieda, Vivian and Walker Wilcox, Lucci and Millie Belvedere and Henry Holmes.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends may visit at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in North Auburn on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery in North Auburn.
