Paul “Pook” Wildenthaler, 85, of Galion and most recently San Diego passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024.

Born June 29, 1938, in Galion, he was the son of the late Paul and Connie (Kump) Wildenthaler. He married Kay (Sparks) Wildenthaler on November 8, 1958, and they enjoyed 55 years together.  Kay preceded him in death passing on June 26, 2013.

Pook graduated from Galion High School in 1956 and was a member of the football and track teams (holding the shot-put record for many years).  Pook worked at Hercules/Peabody Galion for 44 years before retiring in 2002.  He relocated to San Diego in 2019.

Pook was an avid golfer and a lifelong Browns, Reds, and Guardians fan.  He enjoyed attending San Diego State Aztec basketball and Padres baseball games, music/live concerts and trips to Las Vegas.

 He is survived by his son, Jeff Wildenthaler and Daughter-in Law Melanie (Hollingshead) Wildenthaler of San Diego, California, Brother Ron Wildenthaler, and his wife Joyce (Snyder) Wildenthaler of Coral Springs, FL.:  Grandchildren Alisha Wildenthaler and Julia (Wildenthaler) Vafiadis also of San Diego.  Also Galion area nieces and nephew Stacey Russell, Mike Sparks and Rachel Hinton.

At his request no services will be held.
