Patrick John Kehres (Rick), age 67, a longtime resident of the Orlando, Florida, area passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 10, 2024. He was born on June 19, 1956 in Willard, Ohio to the late Leonard and Ruth (Rietschlin) Kehres.
Rick began his education at Mother of Sorrows elementary school in North Auburn and was a 1974 graduate of Buckeye Central High School. After high school, he worked as a brick mason for several years in New Washington, OH and later in Panama City Beach, FL while completing his Associate of Arts degree from Gulf Coast Community College. He then moved to the Orlando, Florida area and worked while continuing his formal education until obtaining both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Master of Science degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Central Florida. Rick worked for many years as a Training Systems Consultant for various government-project contractors and as a Senior MultiMedia Design Engineer for nearly a decade at Lockheed Martin up to the time of his death.
Rick attended mass regularly at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park, FL. He treasured spending time with his family and friends at sporting events, holidays, travel visits, and while attending the weddings and occasions of his many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed watching college football (UCF Knights and Ohio State Buckeyes), the Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland Indians/Guardians on TV and attended spring training games with his mom when she visited him yearly from Ohio. Maintaining and enjoying his home and wooded lakeside property has been Rick’s hobby as much as a chore, for many years.
He is survived by his 5 brothers and 1 sister, Terence (Carol), Douglas (Mary), Anthony (Kim), Russell (Brenda) Craig (Dawn) and Kelly. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his newborn sister Peggy Ann.
Rick will be much missed by his brothers and sister. He always had a great memory and could provide many details about our childhood that others have forgotten. He considered himself to be forever a student of technology and life. One of his favorite (framed) quotes, was “When You’re Through Learning, You’re Through.”
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church North Auburn. Burial will follow mass at the church cemetery. Online condolences may be made to his family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com
