N. Jeanne Schneider, 94, of Galion passed away Sunday evening, May 16, 2021, at Mill Creek Nursing in Galion.

She was born July 29, 1926, in Livingston, Illinois, and was the daughter of Earl Roy and Rose Minerva (Kuntz) Lear. On February 5, 1949, she married John L. Schneider and he preceded her in death after 61 years of marriage on December 10, 2010.

Jeanne graduated from Iberia High School and from the Marion Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper for the former W. E. Lott Garage in Galion. Her husband’s job took them to several places that they lived, including Galion, Charlottesville, VA, Chicago, IL., Kansas City, MO, and Sun Lakes, AZ  where they retired to in 1988. They remained very active with the American Legion in Sun Lakes.

Jeanne enjoyed golfing, crafts and was an amazing seamstress. She and John spent many years enjoying antique shopping and craft shows.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Marian Hoffman of Kentucky; nieces, Deb (Mark) Farina of Galion and Christine (Mark) Maxwell of Lexington and several great-nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Paul) Sherman, and an infant brother, Kenneth Lear.

There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Galion with Father Paul Fahrbach officiating.

A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Mill Creek Nursing Center for the loving care they gave her for the last two years and Avita Hospice for their care. Jeanne’s family would like to thank the Creswell family for making her such a part of their family for the past several years.
