Mary M. ”Marty” Burdine, 85, of Galion, died Friday, July 13, 2018 at Galion Community Hospital, Galion, after a short illness.

Marty was born in Bellville on December 8, 1932 to the late James and Laura (Ridenour) Burdine.

Marty graduated from Springfield Township High School in 1950. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galion. Marty enjoyed volunteering at the St. Joseph Catholic School cafeteria and praying the Rosary. She retired from Sprint in 1993 after almost 25 years of service. Some of Marty’s favorite activities were playing BINGO, cross stitching, and latch hook. Having a love of angels, Marty had the largest collection you will ever see!

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Helen Burdine of Galion; three grandsons, Todd and Sarah Burdine of Zanesville, Scott Burdine of Galion, and Brian Burdine of Wooster; and great-grandchildren, Max Burdine and Lucy Burdine.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond and Robert Burdine; and her sisters, Emma Jean Hartzell, Elizabeth Campain, and Dorothy Tresh.

Friends may call Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way N., Galion.  The Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galion, with Father Paul Fahrbach, Celebrant.  Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Galion.

Marty’s wishes were for memorial contributions in her name be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
