It is with heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Alan Holden {age 56} a beloved husband, devoted son and father, a cherished brother, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a dedicated member of the Willard Police Department.  Mark was born in Sandusky, Ohio on February 26, 1967 and passed away unexpectedly at his home on November 18, 2023.  Mark attended Norwalk High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the tender age of 17.

Mark was a jack of all trades and had a resolute work ethic which he put to use at Venice Equipment, Bouman Chevrolet, as a Police Chief in New London and Willard; and most recently as the Detective for the Willard Police Department.  He was also employed as a police officer for Mercy Hospital – Willard and, along with his wife Shelley, a property manager for Northwest Columbus Rentals.

In a chance meeting, Mark met Shelley in 2010.  They married in 2011 and together made a project transforming their new home and putting Mark’s many skills to the test.  Mark and Shelley enjoyed each other’s company and spent their hours antiquing, riding his motorcycle, and combing Lake Erie beaches for beach glass.  They enjoyed their time with close friends and traveling partners and faithfully attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Willard. Mark was a gun enthusiast and firearms instructor, a collector of fine bourbons, and a friend to anyone that needed his help.

In addition to his loving wife, Shelley, Mark is survived by his sons, Michael (Amanda), Bryan (Melissa) and Alex; step-sons, Cody Grundish and Matt Grundish; grandchildren, Mason, Destiny, Kaytie, Layla, Breck, Kameron, Harper, Samantha and Mackenzie; his mother, Phyllis “Dawn” Sheidler; sister, Debbie Carter; and brother, Bill Holden. Mark was preceded in death by his father, George Holden; and step-father, Duane Sheidler.
