Marilyn L. Bachelder, 86, of Galion passed away peacefully in her sleep with family gathered by her side in her home after a long illness.

She was born in Waldo, Ohio on April 2, 1936 to the late John and Rheda (Kenyon) Neville.

Marilyn was a graduate of Waldo High School and started her first dance studio in Mt. Gilead. After moving to Galion she continued with Phillips Dancing School for many years. She began dancing at the age of three with Jane Melby Coffee.

Marilyn helped with the Morrow County Junior Miss Pageants, choreographing dance routines for a few years. After opening her own dance studio, she started teaching many forms of dancing in Mt. Gilead and Galion.  She enjoyed taking students to audition for the Gene Carroll Show in Cleveland. Several of her students were on the show including herself and her daughter Tracy.  She enjoyed time with her family, shooting pool, traveling, planning events, and her cats.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 44 years, Robert E. Bachelder; children, Rodney Phillips of Crestline, Tracy Tracht of Galion, Sheena (Joe) Brown of Galion, Chad Bachelder of Bucyrus; grandchildren, Roderick Phillips of Willard, Grace (Jim) Rouse of Crestline, Lee Horton of Fulton, Nathan Tracht of Galion, Cheyenne Bachelder of Mansfield, Sierra Bachelder of Galion, Brandon Bachelder of Marion and six great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Cook of Port Clinton and formerly of Caledonia.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 21 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2022 with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home.
