Marguerite (Meg) Elliott Seif, 93, of Galion passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at Mill Creek Nursing in Galion.

She was born March 19, 1924 in Shelby and was the daughter of Bert and Mary (Link) Elliott. On May 22, 1946 she married Leo F. Seif and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage until his passing on August 18, 2009.

Meg graduated from Shelby High School in 1942 and Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She worked for eight and a half months at Shelby Memorial Hospital. Meg worked at Galion Hospital for 40 years and four months. The last 26 years as director of Nursing upon retiring. She enjoyed fishing and golfing. Leo and Meg spent 12 ½ years in North Carolina and during that time, she won the championship three years in the 9 Holers Golf League. Meg was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Galion and a life member in the Nurses Alumni.

Meg is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Seif of Galion; son-in-law Dick Halsey of Marblehead, Ohio; five grandchildren, Geoffrey (Cheryl) Halsey of Port Clinton, Elliott (Rebecca) Halsey of Wheaton, Illinois, Tracy Reitzel of Southport, North Carolina, Darcy (Gary) Barber of Southport, North Carolina and Hilary (Too) Seif of Westerville; seven great-grandchildren Kyle Reitzel, Chris & Ashley Barber, McKenzie, Luke, Nora and Lewis Halsey; niece Cheryl (Bob) Muenster of Adkins, Texas; brother-in-law Frederick Seif of Sulphur Springs; sister-in-law Rosemary Bartholomew of Galion and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter Sandra “Sandi” Halsey; son Robert (Mike) Seif; sister Florence Benedict, uncle Walter Elliott and an infant niece Susan Benedict.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where a memorial service will be held Friday at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. David Sipes and Rev. Mark Bogen officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Galion Elks Lodge 1191.
