Maralee Carter Frost, 99, of Galion passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Magnolia Terrace in Galion.

She was born July 26, 1923 in Dayton, Ohio and was the daughter of Clarence Milton Carter and Mary (Roadefer) Carter.  Maralee married George William Frost in 1944 and he preceded her in death after 49 years of marriage in 1993.

She graduated from Dayton Fairview High School in 1941 and later in 1944 from Ohio University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education, worked in the Alumni Office and was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.  Maralee continued her graduate work at Kent State University, Miami University and Ohio Univsersity. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree at Ohio University, she taught English and Biology at San Diego High School. After World War II, Maralee and her husband moved back to Ohio and while her husband was in Dental school, she worked in the Ohio State University Library. In 1951 and 1952, she taught at the Fox Elementary School in Columbus, Georgia when her husband, Dr. Frost served as a Dentist at Fort Benning, Army Base during the Korean War.

Galion has been Maralee’s home since 1953. She taught English and Health at the Galion Middle School, English at the Galion Senior High School and then was Library/Media Specialist at the Galion Middle School until her retirement in 1988. Maralee was a charter member of the Ohio Educational Library Media Association.

She was active with several local organizations including, President of North School PTA, North End Garden Club, Progressive Mothers’ Club, Rebekah Circle of the former First United Methodist Church (now Christ United Methodist Church) and the Galion Country Club.

Maralee is survived by two daughters, Roberta (Michael) Nash of Columbus, Ohio and Maralyn (Michael) Sagle of Powell, Ohio; son-in-law, Larry Seitz of Ocala, Florida; daughter-in-law, Rita Frost of Omaha, Nebraska; nine grandchildren, Devin Nash, Morgan Nash, Lauren Sagle, Leah Sagle, Eric Sagle, Laurie Seitz Rodriguez, Jeffrey Frost, Jennifer Frost Tergeoglou and Michael Frost; nine great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Frost Seitz; her son, Gary Michael Frost and a sister, Alice Marie Carter Lensch.

Following her wishes, there will be no formal service held.

The family would like to personally thank the staff members at Mill Creek and Magnolia Terrace for their excellent care and friendship during the past few weeks and Kindred Hospice the past few days. Maralee’s sweet and caring soul will certainly be missed but celebrated daily.
