Loren W. Tischer, age 94, of Galion passed away Thursday February 29, 2024 at Magnolia Terrace in Galion.
Born December 8, 1929, he was the son of Ira and Maggie (Young) Tischer. He married Barbara Ann McCormick on August 12, 1952 and she survives.
He was a graduate of Johnsville High School in 1947. Loren was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Galion. He loved all sports and was a fan of the Browns, Indians and Buckeyes. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding his bicycle. He worked as manager for Wickes Lumber in Elyria for 20 years. Prior to that, he worked for Galion Lumber and Home Materials in Mansfield. He had previously sold insurance for National Life Insurance Company and worked for Farmers Bank in Mansfield and was a carpenter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Tim (Elaine) Tischer of Galion and Steve (Nancy) Tischer of Shelby and granddaughter Trina (Jake) Bowdle of Mansfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Vaughn and Irene Tischer and his sister Lauretta Rinehart.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday March 4, 2024 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Richard Genzman officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or Magnolia Terrace Activity Fund in care of the funeral home.
