Lloyd “Cookie” Cook, 83, of Galion passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021 while on vacation in Indiana.

Born June 13, 1938, in Cardington, Ohio, he was the son of Vinal Dell and Irma (Willey) Cook. He married Norma Jean (Whitney) Cook on April 17, 1960, and she survives.

He was a graduate of Cardington High School and served his country in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War. Cookie worked for 47 years at the Valley View Golf Course in Galion as the course superintendent. He was a member of the Galion Elks Lodge 1191 and also the American Legion Scarbrough Post 253 in Galion. He enjoyed golfing and had six holes-in-one, he enjoyed all kinds of sports and spending time with his friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Jill (Bret) Thompson of Cardington, Jack (Sharon) Cook of Mason and Jay Cook of Galion; four grandsons, Zachary Lloyd Thompson, MacKenzie “Mac” Thompson, Jack Edmond Cook and Joseph Michael Cook; a brother, Everett Cook of Madison, TN. and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Brooker; two brothers, Kenneth Cook and Carl Cook, and his faithful companions, his dogs, Shatzie and Reese.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2021, with Rev. Paul Walter officiating.

Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society Serving Crawford County, St. Jude’s Children Hospital or to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.
