Linda L. Greenick, 71, died peacefully Thursday night, October 21, 2021, in her home under the care of her family and Kindred Hospice.
She was born August 5, 1950, in Tiffin to the late Thomas E. and Mary K. (Dunlap) Tompkins. Linda grew up in Bucyrus and graduated from Bucyrus High in 1968. The city girl met a country boy named Bob Greenick while lapping downtown. They were married on April 4, 1970, and, whether driving tractors or milking cows, she adapted to farm life very well. After their children were in school, Linda also worked for Baja Marine and was among the first employees of IB Tech where she worked for 15 years before retiring.
Linda will be remembered for her love of family and holidays. Her hard-tack candy, baked goods, and Perfect Chex Mix were family favorites. At home, she stayed busy helping Bob, gardening, mowing the lawn, canning, and seeing her family’s needs were met. She and Bob enjoyed visiting Amish Country and she looked forward to meals with retired friends from work. Linda was a lifelong member of Woodlawn UMC and was in the local Mother’s Club while raising her family.
Linda is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert A. Greenick; children, Bonnie Greenick (Robert) Ristow, Debbie Greenick Barnett, Josh (Amanda) Greenick, and Tim (Jill) Greenick; grandchildren, Rachel, Nathan, and Evan Massey, Cory and Vivian Barnett, and Asher Greenick; siblings, Pat (Bob) Trout, Nancy Fauser, Mike (Sandy) Tompkins, and Danny (Dian) Tompkins; and many extended family.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Julia Barnett, and brother-in-law, Lyle Fauser.
Friends may join the Greenicks in Oakwood Cemetery for Linda’s graveside funeral on Tuesday, October 26 at 11:00 am with her nephew, Todd Tompkins officiating.
Memorial donations can be made payable to the Woodlawn UMC Memorial Fund or to a charity of the donor’s choice and given through Wise Funeral Service. Memories and photos can be shared on Linda’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
