Kathryn M. Powell, 81 of Bucyrus passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at the Cleveland Hospital, Main Campus. Kathryn was born November 27, 1939, in Bucyrus to the late Sevend Johansen and her biological mother Charlotte Brown. She was also preceded in death by her adopted mother Esther (Strohm) Johansen Drew, her stepfather Harold “Frankie” Drew; husband Michael L. Powell on October 7, 2010; sons Christopher and Steven; daughter Theresa; granddaughter Katie; son-in-law Mike LaFrance; sisters Jennie Wilson, Donna and Blanche; brother Edward Brown.
Kathryn is survived by children Matthew Powell, Jennifer LaFrance, Denise (Keith) Turner, and Valerie (Mike) Eichhorn; 19 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters Jeri Hargis and Linda Williams; a dear friend who she thought of like a daughter Jennifer Keith; and her kittens “Funnyface” and Golden Boy”.
Kathryn was a graduate of Bucyrus High School in 1957 and was a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 181, and formerly a member of the Ladies of the Moose. Kathryn enjoyed Bingo, where she helped out in the Holy Trinity Kitchen, playing the slots at the Casino, and driving her car providing taxi service for her kids and grandkids.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 6:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Jerry Gubernath officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until the time of the service.
