Kathryn Hoover of Galion passed away at Altercare in Bucyrus on Friday, January 8, 2021, of complications of COVID-19. Kathryn was born September 13, 1931, in Cranberry Twp. to the late George and Laura (Laipply) Green, “she was the eighth of nine children”. Kathryn was raised on the family farm which was dear to her all her life. She graduated from New Washington High School in 1948 and was employed at the “Egg Auction” in New Washington, North Electric in Galion, and finally retired from the Ohio Bureau of Employment.
Kate married Glen Hoover who preceded her in death March 11, 1977.
Kathryn will be remembered for her zest for life, never-ending energy, creativity, and fun. She was an avid gardener and her home was surrounded with beautiful flowers and herb gardens. She was also an accomplished weaver on both the 2 and 4 harness looms. Kathryn won many ribbons at the Crawford Co. Fair for weaving.
Kathryn was a fabulous cook and her family dinners were an event. Her homemade chocolate-covered cherries and turtles will never be forgotten. Not to mention all the cookies she made for the Christmas season.
Kathryn is survived by nieces and nephews Suzanne Green, Darcy Green, Beth (Jeff) Peace, Irene (Tom) Martin, Albert Green, and Kenneth (Lehua) Shank. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, sisters Betty Green, Doris Green, LeEtta Green, Mary Green, Vida and her husband Howard Shank; brothers Richard and his wife Carol Green, Grant Green, and Robert Green as well as niece Carol Sharrick.
Due to COVID-19, Private Graveside Services will be held for the family at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery on Ridgeton Rd. The Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements and expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill@hotmail.com
