Karen Sue Barler, 77, of Crestline was called home on Saturday, July 27, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
Karen was born in Crestline on May 27, 1947, to the late Elmer Chronister and Margaret (Armstrong) Pry. On October 7, 1967, she would join Melvin Barler in Holy matrimony, and they would share 49 years of loving marriage before Melvin’s passing in February of 2017.
Karen’s love for her family knew no bounds, and she took immense pride in each family member, often boasting about them to anyone who would listen.
Karen found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren, especially swimming with them. She had a special place in her heart for her dogs and cherished moments watching old-time westerns with her husband, Melvin. A dedicated fan of Ohio State Football and Elvis Presley, she found comfort and happiness in these passions throughout her life.
Left to cherish her memories are her son’s: Roy (Melody) Barler of Mount Gilead, and Kent (Erica Cotton) Barler of Crestline; five grandchildren: Alyssa (Ernest) Kennedy, Kennedy (Kory) Kleer, Jamie (Steven Baldwin) Barler, Sierra Zinn, and Amanda Lippert; four great-grandchildren: Raiyna, Dean, Lane, and Ezekiel.
In addition to her parents and husband, Karen was joyously reunited with her son: Donny Barler and siblings: Glenn Pry, Helen Tesso, Jeanette Gray, and Ruth Pry.
Friends may call on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 11:00am to 1:00pm, at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home; 223 W. Main St., Crestline. The funeral service will begin at 1:00pm with Pastor Gary Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
