Judy Sample was born in Bucyrus, Ohio on October 6, 1943, to John and Katherine Patton. She graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1961 and immediately joined the Army where she served for two years as a Clerk at the USA Defense Intelligence Agency in Arlington, Va. She married Morris Sample Jr on October 17, 1964.
Judy led an adventurous life that gave her five children and moved her from Ohio to California, to Missouri, to Florida, and finally to Texas where she served at her local and regional American Legion in numerous capacities. She volunteered her time to shuttle veterans to the VA in Houston and was presented with many awards for her volunteer efforts. She had an undying love for animals and plants. She passed peacefully in a Dallas, TX hospital from a brain injury caused by a fall in her home and complications of her failing health.
Judy was proceeded in death by parents, John and Katherine Patton, brother Terry Patton, brother Larry Patton, brother Lonnie Patton, and grandson, Wyatt Carter Sample.
Judy is survived by husband Morris Sample Jr, daughter Sharon Kipf (Doug) of OKC, OK, Son, Joe Blake of Houston, TX, Daughter Holly Rankin (James) of Edmond, OK, daughter Theresa Bratcher (Ricky) of Allan, KS, Son Larry Sample of Cleveland, TX. 11 grandchildren and 16 ½ great-grandchildren.
Sister Kathy Frank of Ohio, Sister Candy Christian of Ohio, Sister Nancy Cutter of Ohio, and Brother Randy Patton of Ohio.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021, at 1:00 pm in Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Ray LaSalle officiating. Moments of remembrance can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com.
