After a lengthy battle with dementia, Joyce Ann Merhle was called home to be with the Lord on September 8, 2024. She was 88 years old.
Born in Portsmouth, Ohio to Paul and Marjorie Weghorst. On January 1, 1956, she married her husband and best friend John F. Merhle. They were married for 55 years until his death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Greg Merhle; grandson, Gregory Merhle and son-in-law, Ken Newton.
Joyce retired from Westfield Insurance Group, Westerville. This allowed her the freedom to spend more time with her family and friends. She enjoyed vacationing in Florida with John and her family. Joyce will be remembered for her kindness and warm smile.
Joyce is survived by daughters, Sherri Bishop (Roger) of Bucyrus, Ohio and Cathy Newton of Monroe Georgia; grandchildren, Tara Hock, Craig Bishop, Kelly Haldeman, Aaron Bishop, John and Ronald Merhle, and Lindsay and Dustin Tuthill. Her ten great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Brother, Fred (Sally) Weghorst.
The family would like to thank the staff at Orchard Park in Bucyrus and Gentiva Hospice in Marion for their kindness and care and with Joyce.
She was a member of Grace Life Church of the Nazarene, formerly Linden Church of the Nazarene, where donations can be made in her memory.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 13th from 6-8 p.m. at Moreland Funeral Home 55 East Schrock, Road, Westerville OH 43081 where a service will be held Saturday, September 14th at 10:00 a.m.. Interment Blendon Central Cemetery.
