Josephine Elizabeth ”Jo” Martin, 76, Galion, died Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio after an extended illness surrounded by her family.
Jo was born in Marion, Ohio on November 8, 1941 to the late John and Beatrice (Fraley) Williams. She married Richard Martin on June 7, 1959 and he preceded her in death on October 19, 1999.
Jo was a graduate of Edison High School, Class of 1959. Jo was a retired Phlebotomist from the American Red Cross. Crossword puzzles, sudoku, and sewing were things Jo loved to do in her pastime. She loved Dirt Track Racing and watching Nascar Stock Car Racing on TV and rooting on her favorite driver “Dale Earnhardt Jr.” She was very proud to be called “Grandma Jo” by her children and grandchildren and was also known as “Jo Baby” as her grandkids nicknamed her.
She is survived by children, Tammy (David) Tate of Mount Gilead, Tony Martin of Valparaiso, Indiana, Trent (Jada) Martin of Hilliard, Tonya Martin of Galion; grandchildren, Dylan Tate, Lily Tate, Tony (Jessica) Martin Jr., Spencer Martin, Owen Martin; great-grandchildren, Kendalee Martin, Lorelai Martin, and one-on-the-way; sister, Marjorie (Donald) Graham of Edison.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Tracie Martin; sister, Lois Brinkman; and brother, Richard Williams.
Friends may call from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Ash Welch officiating. Burial be in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens, Marion.
