It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joe “Al” Allen Ratliff, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this world on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on January 14, 1959, in Galion, to the late Joe and Shirley Ratliff.
A proud graduate of Galion High School, Class of 1978, Al spent his life on the open road as a truck driver. He dedicated 17 years of his career to Chief Trucking and previously drove for his own company, Al Ratliff Trucking, also Huntsman Trucking, and Manley Trucking. His love for the outdoors was only rivaled by his passion for life on two or three wheels—there was no greater joy for Al than cruising with his wife, Kimberly, on their Harley Davidson motorcycles with amazing friends.
Al was a dedicated member of his community. He attended the Community Christian Church of Galion and joined the Moose Lodge #414 in 1984. He also cherished his time as a former Elks member in Lexington. Al touched the lives of many with his lovable personality, generous spirit, giving the shirt off his back for someone in need, and his incredible storytelling.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Kimberly (Howell) Ratliff, and his loving children: Christina (Ryan) Rosen-Cox, Anita Conley, Amanda (Russ) Howell, and Dustin (Amanda) Howell. Al’s heart swelled with pride for his grandchildren: Dakota (Emily) Rosen, Kolton (Rayven) Rosen, Briana (Justin) Schneider, Opal Conley, Rowan Howell, and his beloved great-grandchildren: Clara Rosen, Jonah Schneider, and River Crawford, brother, Mike (Diane) McClintock, brother from another mother Don (Deb) Clark, his mother-in-law, Mary Steward, son-in-law, Shawn Rosen, brothers-in-law Henry (Kelly) Steward, Tony (Kelly) Steward, Mitch the beloved Dog, and God-given true friends too many to name.
Joe “Al” was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Shirley Ratliff.
