Joann N. Young, age 90, of Nevada, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at home in rural Nevada, Ohio.

Joann was born in Waverly, NY, to Earl and Hazel (Vosburg) Lantz, and they preceded her in death.

Joann is survived by 3 daughters, Anita (Tom) DiFrieze of Findlay, Chris Palmer, and Tooter Wright both of Nevada. Joann is also survived by her grandson D.J. (Sarah) Bollinger of Nevada, her brother Chuck Lantz of Nevada, and her best lifelong friend, Beverly Clevenger.

Joann was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Rosie Oberlander, son in law Dick Oberlander, siblings Dorothy Newland, Donald Lantz, Colia (Bill) Newland, Betty (Dick) Johnston, Roberta (Bob) Stowips, Thelma (Charlie) Irwin, and Ed Lantz.

Joan worked as a waitress at Dave’s Place, Fingers Corners, and at Anita’s place all in Nevada. She also worked at Honey Creek Ham’s in Wyandot.

Joann would do anything for anyone. She had a taxi service for her special friends. She enjoyed having good times at The Boxcar Tavern, loved going camping, loved Christmas, and she would find any excuse to have a party at her house. If you ever needed to know what your kids were doing in Nevada, you just needed to call Joann or Ginny.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Wednesday, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, followed by a graveside service at 6:30 pm at Nevada Cemetery and officiated by Pastor Steve Sturgeon. A celebration of life gathering will follow the graveside at Buck’s Bar and Grill in Nevada.
