Jerry K. Badgley, 77, of Galion, peacefully passed away following a 4 week illness surrounded by his family and close friends, Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Galion Community Hospital. On August 12, 1947 he was born in Galion, OH to the late Kenneth H. and Evelyn (Mackey) Badgley.

He married the love of his life, Shelia (Sam) Atkinson on August 13, 2022 at the First United Church of Christ.

Jerry retired from the City of Galion as an Assistant Superintendent after 30 years of employment and served as a member of the Ohio National Guard. He was a certified Charter Captain, scuba diver, downhill skier, hunter, fisherman, a cook, and was an avid vintage car enthusiast.

Jerry kept his sense of humor and delighted in teasing his nurses until the end. He died like he lived; as a warrior. He had an incredible amount of energy and put it to use by helping his friends and neighbors and was affectionately dubbed “The Mayor of Hetrick”

His love for those in his circle was unrivaled.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Harry and Esther Badgley.

Jerry leaves behind his wife, Shelia Badgley; son, Thomas K. Badgley (Holli); daughter, Mitzy Badgley Heckert (John Stirling); stepsons: Chris Sentieri (Kat), and Matthew Yeager; grandsons: Stephen D. Badgley (Kristyn); step grandson; Cole Sentieri; great grandson, Walker Badgley; brother, Gary Badgley (Linda); nephews: Jason Badgley (Wendy), and Paul Badgley;nieces: Cheryl Badgley, Randee Mareno (Dennis), and Bridgette Quaintance (Mike); great nephews: Grady Badgley, and Layton Badgley; many friends and “surrogate” brothers: Mark Triplett, and Steve Kinstle.
