Janet Kay Cramer of Lexington passed away at home on Sunday February 6 following a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Cramer, and mother, Bernice Pugh. Janet is survived by her life partner Gilbert D. Proctor; sisters Carol Cramer-Burke and Gayle Cramer, brother Kenneth (Lynne) Cramer; niece Claire Burke (Omer ErSelcuk), nephews Clayton Bradford and Nicholas Cramer; and by numerous cousins, extended family and friends.
Janet graduated from Lexington High School where she was the pianist for the Music Makers choral group. She soon moved to St. Croix, USVI and lived there for many years. In 1998 she returned to Ohio with her partner Don Proctor where they settled on the Cramer family farm near Lexington.
Although Janet had no children, she so enjoyed being a part of the lives of her niece and nephews and great-niece and nephew. They were a big part of her life in St. Croix and later in Ohio. Professionally an accountant, Janet was a naturalist, beekeeper, and Master Gardener, well known for sharing produce from her bountiful vegetable and flower gardens. She loved to read and to share books with her many friends. She beautified everything she touched. The restoration of the Cramer family farmhouse was her final major project.
Janet enriched the lives of all who knew her and will be remembered by hearts full of love and gratitude.
