James T. Rall, age 86, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Friday morning, June 1, 2018 at at his home in Upper Sandusky.
Jim was born on February 12, 1932 in Mifflin Township to Joseph Elmer and Madelon Mary (Miller) Rall, both of whom are deceased. He married Rosalie Ann Sweigard on July 12, 1969 at The Blessed Sacrament Church in Toledo, Ohio and she survives in Upper Sandusky.
Jim is survived by a sister Jane (Earl) Kinley, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Edward Rall, and a sister Susanne Rall.
Jim valued his Roman Catholic upbringing from his baptism and confirmation at St. Peter’s Church, and a life member of Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky for his entire life.
His catholic faith also was integral in his education, starting at St. Peter’s school, attending Mt. St. Francis Seminary for a year, before coming home to Upper Sandusky, and graduating in 1950. He went on for a short time to St. John Seminary and St. Edwards University, both in Texas.
After coming home he entered the US Army and served his country from 1954 to 1956.
Jim retired after 31 years from the former Westinghouse and A.O. Smith in Upper Sandusky.
For hobbies, he loved to flower and vegetable garden, knitting and doing needlepoint, dancing, and following the Upper Sandusky Wrestling Team.
Jim will be remembered for his ability to make others smile with his humor, and his love for his wife and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass for James T. Rall will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church with Father Antony Varghese Vattaparambil, OFM, Conv. and Deacon Kevin Wintersteller, officiating. Burial will take place at Old Mission Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Veterans Color Guard.
Visitations will be held before service time at Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church on Tuesday, from 9:00am to 11:00am.
