James “Jim” Shank, 74, of Galion passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born January 15, 1947, in Ashtabula County, Ohio, and was the son of the late Clark and Genevieve (Lawrence) Shank. Jim is survived by his wife of 20 years, Linda Rinehart whom he married on January 29, 2001.

Jim served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where he received the Purple Heart. He worked as an auto mechanic his whole life and owned and operated Shank’s Auto Service for over 20 years in Galion. Jim loved old primitive buck board wagons, old farm equipment, old cars, his Harley, and family campouts.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sisters, Bernice Brocklesby of Mansfield, Amy Houts of Minnesota and Helen (Merle) Forbes of Ashtabula; brothers, David (Patricia) Shank of Ashtabula and William “Bill” (Ginny) Shank of Las Vegas; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 20 with Pastor Brad Gentille officiating. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.

Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps and the Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
