James L. “Jim” “Big Foot” Jackson, Jr., 74 of Galion passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.

Born April 8, 1944 in Ironton, Ohio he was the son of James L. and Louise Jackson, Sr.  He married Veronica L. Kouns on June 4, 1965 and she preceded him on September 21, 2016.

He was a graduate of Ironton High School and worked as a Class A machinist for Carter Machine in Galion for over 30 years.  Jim was a member of the Unity Freewill Baptist Church in Galion where he has been active for many years.  He previously was a member of the Galion Model Railroad Club and enjoyed building models of trains and airplanes.  He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and was a member of the “Do Nothing Club” at Wendy’s in Galion.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary (Rob Huffine) Bentley of Marengo and Jamie (Rick Fosnaugh) King of Marion. Four grandchildren, Tyler Bentley, Nathan Bentley, Ashley Huffine and Aaron King; sister, Julie Brown of Ironton and his stepmother, Ethel Jackson of Ironton, Ohio

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a daughter Teresa Renee Jackson.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, August 1, 2018 with Pastor David Bates and Pastor Loyd Caudill officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
