James I. Cass, 90, of Galion passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021.

He was born January 12, 1931 in Galion and was the son of Ivan and Mary Cass. James is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dolores (Hartman) Cass whom he married on June 30, 1957.

He graduated from Galion High School in 1949 and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. James was an owner/operator of James I. Cass Building Contractors and the third generation of his family to build custom homes. He built over 300 custom homes in the area.

James was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Galion. He was an avid golfer, traveling all over the United States playing golf and having seven holes in one. His family was very important to him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Juliana (Matt) Petty of Ontario; sons, Bart (Lisa) Cass and Brad (Janice) Cass all of Galion; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two sisters, Judy (Bob) Karnes and Bev Witter all of Galion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson.

The family will have a private memorial service.

Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force and the Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
