James W. “Jim” Fryer Sr., 74 of Galion passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born December 7, 1942 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and was the son of the later James DeForest Sr. and Edna (Collier) Fryer. Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Della L. (Scott) Fryer whom he married on February 15, 1963.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a machinist for 29 years at General Motors. Jim enjoyed woodworking, cars, horseback riding, going to auctions, hunting, fishing, yardwork and above all else, spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children James W. Jr. (Rosemarie) Fryer, Wayne M. Fryer and Dana L. Enderle all of Galion; six grandchildren David Enderle, James D. Fryer, Jr., Justin Fryer, Amanda (John) Loper, Tavis Enderle and Jacob Fryer; five great-grandchildren Jossalyn, Izabelle, Grace, Jaxon and Jessie and two sisters Darlene Fryer of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Joan (Phil) Zuluska of Idaho.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where a memorial service will be held on Friday at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Walter officiating.
Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps and the Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
