James Richard “Jim” Erick passed peacefully into the Lord’s loving arms on April 2, 2018.

Jim was born March 23, 1925 in London, Ohio.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years Wilma “Tillie” Erick.

Jim graduated from Marion High School and then served proudly in the 565th Army Air Force until 1946.  Upon his return to civilian life, Jim worked for the Merit Shoe Company as a manager of the Galion store before embarking on a 31-year career in the insurance industry with Prudential Insurance Company as a general agent.  After his retirement Jim was diligent in his service within the Galion community. He was a loyal member of the Galion Rotary Club during which time he spearheaded the annual distribution of dictionaries to the local elementary school, constructed access ramps for handicap citizens and assisted with the annual July 4th fireworks display, one time labeled “Mr. Fireworks”. Additionally, he served the Christ United Methodist Church for several years as a trustee.

Jim is survived by his son, Richard Erick of Mt Juliet Tennessee, two grandchildren; Andrea of Tampa Florida and Christopher and wife Kerry of Hingham Mass.; great grandchildren, Carson, Finley and Avery and his brothers Ben Meddles and Bill Erick both of Ohio.

Friends may call for visitation, Sunday, April 8th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 S. Market Street, Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held Monday, April 9th at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Matthew Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery.

Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
