Harvey W. Wright, 70, of Grove, Oklahoma and former Galion, Ohio resident passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019 peacefully at his home, 13 months after being diagnosed with ALS.

He was born May 24, 1948 in Galion and was the son of Robert L. and Ireda D. (Lankford) Wright. Harvey is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lynn M. (Tompers) Wright whom he married on October 21, 1967.

He graduated from Galion High School in 1966 and continued his education at Johnson Community College in Kansas City where he received his Associates Degree in Economics. Harvey worked for the former North Electric and retired from Sprint after 40+ years of service, during which he spent 10 years in Florida and over 30 years in the Kansas City area. After retirement he and his wife moved to Grove, Oklahoma, where they built a home on Patricia Island Golf Club.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grove, Oklahoma, Porsche Club of America and The Patricia Island Country Club. Harvey was an avid golfer and enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating and traveling.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Carole (Greg) Fleniken of Toledo, Ohio; son Jeff (Stacy) Wright of Shawnee, Kansas; four grandchildren Drew and Maegan Fleniken, Brandon and Peyton Wright and two sisters Patty (Dean) Alexander of Galion and Becky (Dave) Monroe of Martel, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Robert E. Wright.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 14th with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will be in Blooming Grove Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held in Grove, Oklahoma at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Team Gleason Foundation, which provides services, equipment and technology to those suffering with ALS in care of the funeral home.
