Gerald L. “Gord” Miley, 87, of rural Galion passed away August 2, 2018 at Mill Creek Nursing Center in Galion.

Born September 12, 1930 in Galion, he was the son of Earl and Gladys (McPeak) Miley. He married Barbara J. (Swartz) Miley on September 7, 1950 and she preceded him on October 25, 2015 after 65 years of marriage.

He was a graduate of Iberia High School in 1950 and a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Galion. Gerald was a systems engineer for 27 years at the former North Electric Company in Galion. He later worked as a custodian with the Ontario School System for 23 years retiring in 2006. Gerald was a part time farmer, enjoyed raising cattle and an avid Cleveland sports fan. He enjoyed going to Amish Country with Barbara and their friends and traveling of all sorts. Gerald loved spending time with his family, especially enjoying watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by children Cheryl Lynn (Jeffrey) Ruhl of Delaware, Gary Lee Miley, Craig Alan (Marilyn) Miley and Cory Scott (Amy) Miley, all of Galion; grandchildren Natalie, Lindsay, Travis, Trent, Nicole, Ashley and Katelyn and great-grandchildren Madeline, Weston, Taylor, Saje, Tanner, Tessa, Brayden and Grayson.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by brothers Wilton, Charles and Marvin Miley and sister Jane Burson.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2018 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 7 with Larry Cawley officiating. Burial will follow at Iberia Cemetery.
