Gary Michael Weithman died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 4, 2024. He was born on March 25, 1943 to the late Carl D. Weithman and Margaret (Bogner) Weithman.
Gary married the love of his life Kathleen C. (Nicholls) Weithman on August 17, 1963 and she survives him. Together they raised six kids, Michael Weithman, Kay (Mike) Clouse, David Weithman, Kerry Weithman, Adam (Cathy) Weithman and Ethan (Sara) Weithman.
This family continued to grow and Gary and Kathy are blessed with 16 grandkids. Elizabeth (Zach) Hatfield, Elliot Clouse, Christian Clouse, Julieann Clouse, Mariah Weithman, Hannah (Cameron) Watkins, William Weithman, Gabriel Weithman, Grace Weithman, Jacob Weithman, Adelyn Weithman, Elyse Weithman, Luke Weithman, Allison Weithman, Parker Weithman and Emma Weithman, 3 great grandchildren Rowan Weithman, Myles Hatfield, Lincoln Hatfield and Baby #4 Hatfield due in August. He is also survived by his youngest brother Thomas “Tom” “The Godfather” Weithman.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded by his first son Arthur Carl Weithman and four brothers Donatus “Don” Weithman, Carl “Buzz” Weithman, Stephen “Steve” Weithman and Raymond “Ray” Weithman.
Gary graduated from Galion Senior High School in 1961. He began working for Weithman Brothers Construction as a teenager, the company which his father had started. He and his brothers bought out their dad and continued the family business for many years. Gary retired in 2002.
He enjoyed spending time with his family especially the summers around the family pool. He loved watching his kids play all the different sports and was thankful he also was able to see many of the grandkids carry on the tradition. Gary also enjoyed his Sunday mornings cooking his famous breakfasts for his family and then watching his Cleveland Browns. He was an avid Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers and Ohio State Buckeye fan as well.
Gary also cherished his dogs and often could be seen driving through town with from two, three to finally one dogs hanging out the windows. They truly were his best friends.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 PM Friday May 10, 2024 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will follow at 4:00 PM with Father Paul Fahrbach officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio or the Crawford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
