Gary L. Kime, 66, of Galion passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at The Good Shepherd Home in Ashland after a five year courageous battle with cancer.
Born May 2, 1951 in Galion, he was the son of Richard S. and Mary E. (Johnston) Kime. He married Sandra (Bedson) Kime on January 9, 1971and she survives.
He was a graduate of Galion High School in 1969. Gary had a deep love for God, his country, family, friends and Scouting. He proudly served during the Vietnam War, Germany, Korea and Desert Storm in the United States Army and Army Reserves for 31 years, retiring in 2003. He also worked at the Timken Company in Bucyrus for over 38 years, retiring in April 2015 as a process analyst.
Gary was a member of the Community Christian Church and American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 both of Galion. He was also a member of the Galion/ Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail and the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed hiking, camping, mountain climbing and especially spending time with his grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Scot (Rachael) Kime of Ashland and Matt (Candice) Kime of Lexington; eight grandchildren Colin Hubbard, Colton and Hadleigh Kime, Chandler, Sydney, Branden, Ava and Carson Kime; brother Ken (Paula) Kime of West Salem; special friends Chuck (Barb) Weaver, Kevin Faeth and Bill (Jodi) Ricker all of Galion, Jim Arnold of Tenn. and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Bill Kime.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 with Dr. Dan Turner officiating. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.
Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Christian Church Air Conditioning Fund in care of the funeral home.
