Faye A. Shearer, 101, Galion, passed away at Millcreek Nursing Home on Thursday, July 27, 2017.
Faye was born in Moorefield, on August 17, 1915 to the late William and Alta (Graham) Brokaw. She married Lyman Otis Shearer on January 2, 1942 and he preceded her in death in 1980.
Faye was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Galion. A loving and kind person, Faye was a homemaker and a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, and the Mayflower Society, Cleveland Chapter. Faye was also a member of a singles club and Senior Citizens Club, Galion. Faye was a wonderful cook and seamstress who loved her flower and vegetable gardens. Very artistic, Faye enjoyed crafts and painting. Faye’s grandchildren were a delight to her. She was proud to tell folks she was a distant cousin to Tom Brokaw, NBC News Anchor.
She is survived by her sons, Gary and Diann Shearer, Galion and Paul and Sharon Shearer, Bucyrus and four grandchildren, Jessica and Brett Starner, Holly and James Rossman, Faith and Mike Deasy, Matthew and Gwen Shearer; great-grandchildren, Blake Starner, Lyman Starner, Bailey Rossman, Violet Rossman, Jack Rossman, Garrett Geyer, Shelby Geyer, Izzy Shearer, Grayson Shearer, McKenna Shearer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, John Brokaw and Glenn Brokaw and her sister, Clara Howell.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2017 at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday July 29, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 291 N. Union St., Galion, with Pastor Anne Pairan officiating. Burial will follow in Moorefield Cemetery, Moorefield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Galion in care of the funeral home.
