Everett R. Dysinger, 90, of Galion, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021, at home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born February 18, 1931, in Van Buren, Ohio, and was the son of Howard L. and Lelah (Thompson) Dysinger. On February 10, 1951, he married Katheline Mae (Pettus) Dysinger and she preceded him in death after 64 years of marriage on June 29, 2015.
Everett graduated from Galion High School in 1949. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1949 to 1956 during the Korean Conflict and in the United States Air Force as a Communications Specialist from 1956 to 1977, retiring after 25 years of service. During his Air Force career, he received the Bronze Star, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and the Air Force Presidential Unit Citation.
After his Air Force retirement, he and his wife lived in Phoenix, Arizona for many years, where he had his own Realty office. Everett and Katheline enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and were members of the Mid-Ohio Winnebago Camping Club. He was a life member of the Non-Commissioned Officers Association of the United States of America. Everett previously enjoyed golfing, fishing and attended Grace Point in Galion.
He is survived by his son, Bob Dysinger and his wife, Sara Zanelletti of Los Angeles, California; grandson, Scott Dysinger of Henderson, Nevada; great-grandson, Dustin Dysinger; sisters Dorothy “Doddie” McClarren and Betty (Don) Gehrisch all of Galion and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son, David Dysinger; sisters, Veda (Wilbur) Shifley, Bonnie Dove, and Mildred Burrell and brothers, Carl E. Dysinger and Robert C. Dysinger.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 with Rev. Paul Walter officiating.
Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force and the Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail at Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
