Eldon “Bucky” Walter, 97, of Galion passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Altercare of Bucyrus.

Born September 17, 1926 in Bucyrus, he was the son of Simon and Beryl (Dutcher) Walter. He married Carol R. (Sherer) Walter on February 11, 1951 and they enjoyed 72 years together.

He was a graduate of Whetstone High School in 1944 and a member of First United Church of Christ in Galion. Bucky farmed his entire life and worked for Producers in Bucyrus for 17 years. He enjoyed camping, traveling and cutting wood. Bucky volunteered for 4H Crawford County Fair for over 40 years weighing pigs.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Hollis (Lorraine) Walter of Galion, Sandra Kennedy of Bucyrus, Debby (Roger) Fulk of Mansfield and Phillip (Anna) Walter of Galion; grandchildren, Josh Kennedy, Zack Kennedy, Hannah Ruth, Mark Walter, Adam Walter, Mary Beth Fulk, Travis Fulk, Janey Fulk, Carey Hurford, Emily Fulk, Sabra Walter and Bella Walter; great grandchildren, Nate Ruth, Ethan Ruth, Aaron Ruth, Raylin Kennedy, Hazel Walter, Albert Walter, Magnolia Hurford, Livia Leonhart, Trey Dean and Tyson Dean and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Clara Heid, Kenneth Walter, Edith Kehrwecker and Ermin Walter.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2024 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 16 at  First United Church of Christ, 248 Harding Way West, Galion  prior to Funeral services held at 11:00 a.m. at with Rev. Steve Court officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
