Doris L. Young, 77, of Galion, passed away November 24, 2017 at Signature HealthCare in Galion.
Born July 29, 1940 in Nelsonville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Thomas and Mabel (Hanning) Kennedy. She married Larry W. Young on February 14, 1959 and he survives.
She was a graduate of Buchtel High School in Buchtel, Ohio and received an Associate Degree from North Central State College in Social Work. Doris worked for over ten years as a social worker for Head Start in Galion. She loved to read, loved animals and fed all the cats and birds in the neighborhood. Doris especially thought the world of her family and cherished the time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by two daughters, Michele (Joe) Mulrooney of Monroe, N.C. and Carla J. (Jeff) Zeger of Galion; six grandchildren, Brett (Sarah) Young, Rusty (Jordan) Reed, Cory Young, Nicole Wilhelm, Laura Wilhelm and Stevi Ness; eight great-grandchildren, Alexa Young, Brilyn Young, Kylie Reed, Adalynn Reed, Gracelynn Reed, Jayden Young, Amy Young and Cora Vargas and a sister, Ruth Starrett.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Larry “Bubba” Young, Jr. and three sisters.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
