Donald Edward “Doc” Switzer, 86, of Galion passed away Friday, June 9, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.
Born January 20, 1937 in Galion, he was the son of Herbert and Mildred (Pletcher) Switzer. He married Linda (Barker) Switzer on July 18, 1964 and she preceded him after 56 years of marriage on December 24, 2020.
He was a graduate of Galion High School in 1954 and worked for 47 years as a conductor for Conrail/CSX. Doc enjoyed fishing, country music and running errands with his miniature schnauzer.
He is survived by, two daughters, Kim (Andy) Lauer and Kathi Switzer both of Galion; a granddaughter, Rachelle Mauritz of Galion; brother Bill (Dorothy) Switzer of Galion and two sisters, Janet (Garry) Wade of Galion and Betty McClary of Tennessee.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother Edwin Switzer.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
