Donald A. Wade, age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 16 at his home in Mary Esther, Florida following an extended illness. On January 19, 1931 Don was born in Jackson County, Tennessee the youngest son of William and Lela (Vinson) Wade. He was raised on a farm along with siblings Hughley, Fred, Ina, Billy, and Jean before coming to Ohio in 1946.

Don spent most of his adult life working in various manufacturing capacities in North Central Ohio and finally retiring from General Motors in Mansfield in 1993. During this time he also enjoyed fishing, especially the Canadian trip, and golfing with both friends and family. “Doc”, as he was known by many, was a long time member of the local Moose and Masonic organizations before moving to Florida in 2000.

Don is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diana, and his sister, Jean Williams (Howard), sons: Carl Wade (Charlene) and Tom Wade (Darla), three step-children: Nicole Jung (John), Nick Trolian (Cathy), and Joe Trolian (Christy), 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents, seven older brothers and sisters, a granddaughter (Megan) and a great grandson (Byron).

Don was an avid bowler and enjoyed years of teaching children to bowl. He also loved traveling with Diana. Don delighted in music, especially country, and gospel. He happily volunteered with the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center Auxiliary, Mattie Kelly Arts Center, Caring and Sharing, and First Christian Church, D.O.C. Don was a popular, friendly, loving man who never knew a stranger and was happy to help in any way he could. He was happiest when his family could gather together, especially at The New Riegel Cafe, and encouraged them to do so on a regular basis.

There will be a memorial service for Don at First Christian Church, D.O.C., 201 St. Mary Avenue SW, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, on Wednesday, August 17th. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. and the service will be at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the First Christian Church, D.O.C, the Bucyrus Moose Lodge or a charity of your choice.
